All I want for Christmas is a post-scarcity world Monday, December 24, 2007 Journal
Really, my apathy stems from my belief that we are behind schedule in achieving a Post-scarcity society.

But this year was a good one, and despite some valleys in my mood over 2007 I have emerged with a renewed sense of positivity and a new partner in this chaos!

Nichole and I are moving into a beautiful new home next Saturday, in what is for me the icing on the carrot cake for 2007! (I love carrot cake cause its not too sweet)

I have had less time to communicate with everyone of late, but I am good at responding if a communication comes in. I hope everyone is getting to let loose this holiday season. Scream some, pray some, dance some!

Back from the burn! Thursday, September 06, 2007 Burning Man 2007
Oh what a week! This year was amazing, but also posed a few decent challenges for me. Its the first year I was ready to get the hell out and come back to my home in Grass Valley. I journaled most my experiences and I hope to have time and motivation to put some down on my little blog for digital expansion, but who knows. I did manage to get quite a few photos and I have already started uploading them to my website. Here they are:

Burning Man 2007 pictures

I also posted a lot of pics from the part friday before we left...lots of good stuff, so check it out!

The past meets the future pictures

Well, now its back to my new projects and new found motivation for whats good in the world: good food, good art, good exercise, and good people. Ill be working heavily on my garden and I will be working on several other improvements around life to continue on my path of making everyday dense with happiness.

Upcoming: The past meets the future Saturday, August 18, 2007 Events
I am throwing a party for people who love to dance! This is a Burning Man warm up party as well as a chance to just get loose.

A new batch Wednesday, August 15, 2007 Journal
My new batch of beer is gonna be ready just in time for Burning Man! It's a chocolate stout based on a home-made clone of the Guiness recipe. During the process I managed to guess the *exact* number of bottles and the *exact* number of caps needed to completely bottle all 5 gallons of this black gold. Today was also tuesday which meant our crew enjoyed beating each up out on the soccer pitch...happy days!

Kale Soup for the soul Monday, August 13, 2007 Journal
It's monday again :( But I feel healthy and elevated. Starting off the weekend pretty sick, I worried that my plans might bust. Friday eve I made a batch of my new favorite recipe: Potatoe-Kale soup. For those who don't know: Multi-Vitamins are a joke compared to the power of Kale: Check out the Detailed nutritional composition of kale. Anyway this shit worked, after a 'boring' Friday night (went to the Nevada County Fair then staying IN for the evening), I got a good night's rest and then woke up Saturday feeling good, eager to party and test my immune system all over again. Saturday evening I danced until sunrise at the Intergalactic showdown at an abandoned saloon up in the hills of the Sierra. Sunday saw little change in my health, so I pushed it again, Sunday night staying up until 4:30am watching the below mentioned metor shower. Looking up at the night sky with Phil, Matt and Jaylana and taking my own advice (laughing and enjoying deeper conversation) I must have seen over 100 shooting stars!

Potato-Kale Soup

2 tsp. Olive Oil
1 Cup finely diced onion
1/4 tsp. dry crushed red pepper
6 cups corsely cut kale
3 cups peeled potatoes
32 oz chicken (or veg soup) broth
4 cloves garlic, minced
(To be added when served:)
Fresh asiago or parmessan cheese
Ground black pepper

-Heat oil in soup pot (Dutch oven if you have it)
-Add onion, sate for 5 min or until tender
-Add garlic + red pepper, stir 1 minute
-Add Kale, stir occasianally for 2 min or unitl wilted
-Add Broth and potatoes, bring to boil
-cover and reduce heat for simmer for 20 min or until potatoes are tender
-serve sprinkled with cheese and pepper

Great Perseids Wednesday, August 08, 2007 General
Great Perseids is a collection of meteors showering our night sky every year starting in mid-july and culminating on around August 12th....this year thats a new moon so the show will be even greater.

Everyone go outside and look up on this night! Bring a blanket and a drink. Meditate if your alone, enjoy laughter and deeper conversation if you are in company, but stay outside for a while and you will be rewarded with one of universe's more striking gifts!

Climbers Unite! Saturday, July 28, 2007 Burning Man
Just finished reviewing the list of funded art projects at Burning Man this year and thought I would take the time get any fellow climbers excited about a couple pieces of art being built *exclusively for us to climb on*!!! There is always the thunderdome and random camps with several stories of scaffolding, but how about these:

And for the adventurous (I am awaiting reply from artist for permission to scale this bad boy...):

Im heading back up to Quincy to hang out with my mom and anyone else who wants to hear music and learn more about solar powered cooking:
July 14: Solar Cookout

High Sierra Music Festival Tuesday, July 10, 2007 Journal
Wow!

After a rousing pre-party for Ena's birthday on the 3rd and then good ol' 4th of July, Ena drug me out to Quincy for a very famous music festival and it was fantastic! Hippies and dancing galore! It took me a few days to get into the swing of things, I am pretty spoiled by Burning Man so it was hard for me to keep my mouth shut from comparing the 2. (And for the record BM is still by far the most supreme event I have been to) But it didnt take long to get grooving to some amazing performances. Hacky sack, frisbee, dollar black-jack, spray-bottle molestation...it was all there.

My mom moved up to Quincy about 6 months ago and she is living about a mile away from the Fairgrounds where the festy was: a daily morning shower this meant I was the cleanest hippy out there! Ena's boyfriend Sean is from Quincy and he introduced us to all his friends that were camped in the back corner of Family Camp which meant you could hear crickets at 2am, but come 7-8ish the rushing roar of playing children messed with your dreams until you couldnt handle the thoughts of doing battle against centurions in an arena lined with high-pitched whining kids. The rest of the crew was a pleasure to hang out with: Liz (who's mom lived in an RV right on the other side of the fence from our camp :) and Nick, Matt and Lauren, Bridgett and Tasha all kept the camp alive and full of laughter. Better luck next time at Boche ball everyone...and next time we are starting a drinking game to finish the Sangria :P

I got back Monday morning to a million work requests...so thats gonna be it for me this week: Trying to recover and make people feel like they are getting their money's worth.

I have pictures coming...I would have them now but this weekend I was holding my camera like a beer and it somehow ended up in my cooler...
